Overview
The Patan Academy of Health Sciences (PAHS) is a not-for-profit tertiary academic institution that focuses on training health workers to improve rural health in Nepal. The academy aims to produce graduates who can provide medical care to disadvantaged Nepalis living in remote or rural areas and become leaders in health care policy. PAHS serves as a model for innovative medical education in a developing country that can be replicated elsewhere. The academy includes a School of Medicine and a School of Nursing and Midwifery that offers various nursing programs, such as PCL Nursing, BN, BNS, and MN, and a School of Public Health that offers a Master's Program in Public Health. PAHS is located in Patan, Nepal, next to Kathmandu, and is based at Patan Hospital, which is the main teaching hospital for the academy. In the future, PAHS is planning to open a School of Allied Health Sciences to train other health care professionals.
