Overview
Narayani Sub Regional Hospital in Birgunj, Parsa is a 6-story building with a ground coverage of 2003.31 sq. m and a total built-up area of 11472.92 sq. m. It has 500 beds. The design includes all necessary components of a hospital, including inpatient, outpatient, diagnostic, and emergency departments. Utility areas are located in the basement.
The hot climate of the Terai region of Nepal was considered in the building's design to create a comfortable, functional, and user-friendly space, as well as to manage crowds effectively. To achieve this, a central atrium space was created for natural lighting and ventilation, and the building is oriented towards the east to avoid glare from sunlight. The south facade is treated with louvers and vertical fins to allow ample light penetration and create a comfortable indoor environment.
