Overview
The Dhulikhel Hospital was established by the Dhulikhel community as a health service provider and inaugurated by the late King Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev in 1996. It is a collaborative project of the Dhulikhel Municipality, NepaliMed, and Dhulikhel Health Service Association. Dr. Ram KM Shrestha, one of the founders, established the hospital with the aim of providing quality health services to the underprivileged population of rural Nepal. The hospital initially provided outpatient, 24-hour emergency, and inpatient services. It covers a population of 2.7 million people from various districts, including Bhaktapur, Dolakha, Kavrepalanchowk, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok, Sindhuli, and others, and has served people from more than 50 out of 75 districts in the country. It receives a significant number of referrals from different parts of the country, and since the opening of the Banepa Bardibas highway connecting the eastern Terai, the number of patients from the Terai region has significantly increased.
